Bubble Gum Doctor

Again, we find ourselves with a doctor who must have gotten his license in a machine.  I would think that when you have a patient that has 2 very large bumps on his ankle, bruising around his ankle and his toes are like sausages, it might be something to look at.  Here's the story:
Bryant and Jacob played church basketball on Thursday.  Bry has been told by the coach that he isn't allowed to get any fouls (seriously!)...so Bry tries really hard not to, but he is tall, bulky and has very long arms to reach over peoples heads to rebound.  Anyways, he and another player on the opposite team, well...they kind of jumped at the same time and came down together.  The one young man got up and asked Bry if he was okay and Bry just laid there holding his head.  My thinking, "Oh great, a concussion...there goes his Lacrosse season!"  Nope, it wasn't his head...it was his ankle.  He is in serious pain...like beyond a 10!  But, he wanted to stay at the game and by the time it ended all Ugent cares were closed and there was no way I was doing an ER.  So we iced it, gave him some Ibprophen and elevated it.
Friday morning, it's huge!  So I quickly call the docs to see what the difference between Urgent care and a really doc office is...Price basically.  So she was great in getting us in fast and that brings us to the appointment.  Bry get's his foot x-ray and about dies from the pain of moving it.  The doctor while looking at his computer asks all the usual questions, then comes and pokes Bry's ankle on both sides.  Well, when Bry is in serious pain, instead of crying...he kinda laughs and grimaces. The doctor leaves to look at the results and I tell Bry to get serious or else the doctor will think he's faking even though it's twice the regular size.  I mean seriously, there is something not right with his foot.  The doctor comes in, while on the computer says.."Yup, it's a sprain.  I don't think it's broken, we won't know how bad of sprain until the radiologist look at the x-ray."  No Sheeze Sherlock!  He puts Bry in a very flimsy ace brace and gives him neproxen.
This brace does nothing for Bry.  It's a good thing he did something at the same time last year...we had a boot brace to stabilize it.  So he's wearing that until he can at least move his toes and the swelling goes down.  If you look up Neproxen, it basically is a medication given to treat all sorts of Arthritis, menstrual cramps, inflammation of tissues (hopefully this will bring the swelling down).  Did ya see anywhere to help the pain?  Nope!  Again, good thing we had some Ibprophen from the last time.  They did tell him to stay off it until the results came in and then in a couple of weeks start some therapy to get the motion back...blah, blah, blah!
We've heard this before. All I can say is if we don't see some swelling and pain going down by Monday, they might get a wonderful phone call from both parents!
Geeze! Where do these doctors come from?
