So I have to admit, I'm liking making Italian meals. This is one tradition we will keep. We started like you've all seen on the blog, having Charlie cook before he went to college. The family decided why stop?..Thank heavens Charlie brought me a sweet cookbook, in English, from Italy. Yes, some of the recipes are scarey...others...yucky...but...so far we've had success.
Charlie first did this ragu for our family...all homemade as one of his first meals home. So I decided since the recipe asked for a meat sauce to try it. Charlie gave me the ingredients and what do do...and I did it. It cooked all day and Doug was the taster when he came home. The house smelled very Italian!
We split the ragu in half. Froze one part and used the second to complete dinner. That's where the sausage/salami was added. You were suppose to stuff little shells with the meat sauce, but we did our own version and just poured it over some Rotini noodles. Topped it off with some Pecorino cheese and baked until it was good. Monday nights are the BEST!
