Some of heard, some already knows....Our missionary was blessed and asked to extend his mission 6 more weeks. This is very unusual especially in the European missions. I'm guessing it's because the group that went at the same time Charlie did was huge and as Charlie says, takes away 7 companionships, which is huge if you think about it. So the Mission President ask permission from the Area Presidency for a couple of missionaries to stay for another transfer if they could. Well, you know our boring family, nothing planned (haha!) how could we say no.
My heart tugs because the count down was under the triple digits, but now, we are back into the triple digit, so why count? We couldn't deny Charlie the blessings of serving our Heavenly Father 6 more weeks out of his life, nor did we want to. So...he'll be home (fingers crossed ) sometime in the middle of July. I am registering him for his classes at BYU...mwahaha! and he already has his apartment (yup, did that to)...I'm a good mom and he knows I'll take care of stuff so he can focus on his mission.
I was asked if it was hard...yes, but...it's only hard for a little while. Getting use to him being safe in someone elses hands is easy. Seeing his testimony grow and mature is worth every trial our family has faced...and BOY, have we faced trials...shhhh, don't tell the missionary though...I think when you send a missionary off, you expect, or at least I thought this way, that blessings would just be abounding in measures...nope...it doesn't happen that way. Blessings come small, and sometimes others have to point it out for me, but I do believe trials our family has faced has blessed Charlie, and that's all that matters when you think about it. It is a blessing of great graditiude to say, " I AM A MISSIONARY MOM"
I look forward to having Bryant and Jacob become missionaries and once again saying, I am a missionary Mom!

Are you going to pick him up? Did those plans get to change? How fun for him though.
You brought tears to my eyes....my little sis is all grown up! He sounds so good. Yes, he is definitely being blessed. I'm sure you are too....maybe just not so openly, but heavenly. After all, those are the ones that count the most!!
What a blessing!!!! To serve six more weeks...wow! :) I wish I could have done that!! I asked...and was told no. Haha. Anyway, thanks for sharing your beautful thoughts on this. Best of luck with your remaining "triple digit" days. It will pass...and you all will be blessed for your sacrifice. :)
That's exciting! Yay for him! Hang in there, you guys can do it!
Wow! What bittersweet news! I'm sure that Charlie is thrilled to stay out in the mission field 6 more weeks. But for your sake, I hope it goes by fast. :)
Well, at least it makes your June less crazy, right? ;)
