After Christmas Doug and I decided we still needed to do the tamales. Doug first went to a Mexican store, but no english there and we had not idea how to get our point across. Then we wanted to find pre-made masa...no luck there. Finally we decided just to google a good recipe. The masa had flavor and I didn't have to use LARD! yippee! I was very relieved. We cooked up a pork loin/and a pork roast and then started on the sauce. The first can I dumped into the blender looked like green boogies with chunks...(I'm so descriptive)...then we added some tomato paste, some rotel and some sea salt...acted like an "iron chef"..at first it was way to thick so I added some liquid from the roast. I had Doug take a little taste with a spoon (just like the food network) and he said it was pretty good. We ended up making only 4 doz this year, but will increase next year and now we had a fabulous recipe!

Tamales are my favorite food. I am coming for dinner! Over and over again.
That sounds so good and now I'm extremely hungry--so thanks! We will need to come and visit during tamale season!
